The Full Story

Since May 2019 when the group was created by Ian Tomlins, it was set up primarily for EV owners to talk online using social media only. However things changed very quickly.

After setting the online group up it became apparent that it was going to be more than an online group. Our membership swelled and feedback from our members was that group meetings would be a great idea.

The group was getting bigger and fresh new ideas were needed. I attended the Electric Vehicles Festival at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon. This was very inspirational and working with Sussex EVs who kindly invited me was a great start. Many thanks to Neil and Leanne Roberts for all the help in setting up the group initially with great advice.

After feedback and contacting several members a bigger admin team was required. The  UKSOUTHWESTELECTRICVEHICLESGROUP (UKSWEVGROUP) was born. We now had a great team of admins that cater for all the counties of the Southwest.

Having fresh ideas we teamed up with the Cleevely EV for our first meet. A first meet was great to do a joint effort and so this proved a great success for us both. Thank you Matt Cleevely and his fabulous team for a great day out and lots of happy members! A new identity and logo was created for the group followed by a Twitter account and website followed by other social media platforms.

We followed up the first meet with a Dorset meet. With new members on board and a great team with great ideas 2020 was going to be a great year for the group.

Throughout the rest of 2019 we teamed up with Viridian EV, Pittpoint, 99web, 99print and Octopus. A newly purchased feather flags was the start of things to come.

The group rebranded itself to become the Southwest EV Owners Group. A newly updated Website/Twitter/Facebook and merchandise was set up to help fund our non-profit group.

We have now set up every other month a group meet at every county of the Southwest. With additional events planned and festivals we are very much looking forward to a great year in 2020. The events/meets will be posted online on our social media and the website.

Thanks for your time and hope we can see you at one of our future meets or attended events.
